When I first began coaching leaders, I realized that many of them had experienced a gap in leadership development programs they’d gone through in the past.
The gap was this: they had been taught theories and principles but their growth and change were not sustainable. This is because it didn’t CONNECT those leadership principles first to the WHO of leadership and second to how the WHO showed up in the day-to-day operations – how it translated to achieving BUSINESS GOALS.
Most leaders are in the positions they find themselves in because they’ve been able to get results. They meet the deadline. They reach the goal—or even surpass it. But they often struggle with the ‘people’ side of leadership—the ‘soft skills’ as many refer to it.
When those leaders who have proven they can get results to grow in BOTH areas of leadership (task-focused and people-focused areas), become more self-aware, connect the dots between the ‘soft skills’ of leadership to the business, they achieve goals faster and, eventually, with less stress.
