Assertive Type of Leadership

He knew he was ‘assertive’ but didn’t know his leadership style was having these consequences…

He was a strong senior operations leader – typical type A personality (direct, smart, results-driven & occasionally a bit abrasive).

He hired us to develop his leadership team using The Coach Approach to Leadership™ principles.

During training & 1:1 coaching, he discovered a key reason why his employees weren’t willing to openly share ideas or feedback with him – even though he’d ask repeatedly for both.

What really hit home was when he realized his leadership style was impacting the parenting of his 9-year-old daughter. How it was resulting in his daughter feeling stressed & rushed when talking with him. And that, over time, this would affect her confidence and their relationship.

This struck him at his core.

He learned to recognize & adjust his mindset, behaviors & approach to make space and time for his daughter so she would feel truly listened to.

He started doing this with his team as well & it completely transformed his relationships AND results.

Leadership development isn’t just about learning new ‘skills’.

It’s also about uncovering the natural wiring, mindset & behaviors (the ‘who’) that drive us so that we can be aware of & better manage the impact we are having on others…in the workplace & beyond.
