Levels 1-3: “deficiency needs” are essentials we need to survive (money, family, self esteem, etc.) but they don’t necessarily inspire us.

Levels 4-7: “growth needs” create higher levels of engagement, motivation & satisfaction (personal goals, collaboration, social responsibility, etc.)

Humans & organizations experience these stages at different times.

As leaders, we need to understand if we’re operating in alignment with our values and if our culture is healthy or if it has an unhealthy level of dysfunction.
