You can help your leaders take OWNERSHIP.

What is ownership?

Ownership is embracing responsibility and pointing the finger at yourself first before pointing at someone else. It’s asking, “What can I do” rather than “This is what THEY should do.”

It’s taking 100% responsibility for every decision and action without blaming others.

This is an essential characteristic of good leadership, because it removes the limits on what’s possible.

When we take ownership and responsibility for how we are contributing to situations, we then have the power to DO something about them.

One of my clients had a BREAKTHROUGH moment in the area of ownership.

This leader had a tendency to TELL and DIRECT her team. But she realized it wasn’t working very well for her. So, she began practicing the COACHING MINDSET and skillset she was learning in our program.

One day, a situation came up where two of her team members had gotten into a fight—not a fist fight, but it was pretty close!

This time, she decided to deal with the situation a little differently than she had in the past.

She GOT CURIOUS instead of assuming what had happened. Here’s what she did in each meeting:

●      She asked what had triggered them, what they were upset about and why.

●      She asked what else they could have done.

●      She coached them as they each decided what to do next to repair the relationship.

To her surprise, here’s what happened—

After they met with her, they took RESPONSIBILITY, TALKED about what happened, AGREED on how to avoid the same kind of situation next time, and then actually HUGGED it out!

Also, because she took the time to coach them through it one-on-one, she built a stronger, more trusting relationship with each of them. And their whole team is better for it!

These are the kind of results that come from The Coach Approach to Leadership™. If this program is something you think your team could benefit from, contact me and we’ll set up a time to chat!
